The payroll financing company you choose can mean the difference between paying your employees on time and missing your payroll deadline.
Based on our experience, the best payroll financing companies offer:
- High approval rates. Many payroll financing companies want your business to be in near-perfect condition. They want great credit, stable revenue, extensive cash reserves, collateral, and large profit margins, putting them out of reach for most businesses. Look for a lender with reasonable qualification requirements and high approval rates.
- Fast closing. Many payroll financing companies take weeks to close because they ask for and must assess mountains of paperwork, including balance sheets, payroll documents, tax returns, and more. Look for a lender that requires minimal paperwork, as they usually close the fastest.
- Sufficient loan amounts. Many payroll financing companies limit how much you can borrow, which may not be enough to cover a full payroll cycle including payroll taxes and business expenses. Look for a payroll lender who can fund the amount you need.
- Competitive interest rates and terms. Payroll financing costs vary significantly depending on the lender. Look for transparent interest rates and terms, and avoid predatory lenders.
However, most payroll financing companies struggle to tick all four boxes. Some offer low interest rates but have demanding requirements that make it difficult to qualify. Others have easier qualification requirements and can fund faster, but charge excessive rates and fees.
To help businesses choose the right payroll financing company, we wrote this article comparing 10 options against the criteria above, starting with our payroll products at Redline Capital.

1. Redline Capital: Fast Payroll Financing at Affordable Rates
Redline Capital has helped hundreds of businesses cover payroll over the past decade. We’ve deployed hundreds of millions of dollars in funding through lines of credit up to $750,000 and working capital loans up to $2 million.
We built our process around the four criteria above because those were exactly the problems we kept seeing with other payroll financing companies: qualification requirements that were too strict, funding timelines that were too slow, loan amounts that fell short, and interest rates that weren’t competitive.
Below, we cover how Redline Capital compares on all four.

Factor 1: We Approve Over 80% of Applications Because We Qualify You Based on Revenue, Not Your Entire Financial Profile
Most payroll financing companies evaluate your entire financial history and expect you to have perfect credit, hard collateral, a low debt-to-income ratio, cash reserves, years of time in business, and more. All these requirements make it difficult for even financially healthy businesses to qualify for a short-term business loan.
What sets Redline apart from most payroll financing companies is how we underwrite applications. Instead of reviewing your entire financial profile, we base approval on a single number: your monthly revenue.
As long as your business brings in $30,000 or more per month in revenue, you’re approved.
Because of our straightforward requirements, over 80% of businesses that apply qualify, including many that other payroll financing companies previously turned away.
Factor 2: We Can Fund Your Payroll Loan on the Same Day You Apply
Many payroll financing companies take weeks to close, which doesn’t work for businesses facing a cash flow gap and needing to settle payroll within a day or two.
The reason for this slow funding timeline is paperwork. Most payroll financing companies ask for balance sheets, tax returns, payroll documentation, credit card processing statements, and more before they’ll make a decision, and evaluating all of that takes time.
At Redline Capital, we designed our paperwork requirements around speed. All we need is four months of bank statements confirming that you meet the $30,000 monthly revenue threshold, and we can evaluate them in less than an hour. Most businesses have funds in their bank account the same day they apply.

Factor 3: We Can Advance Up to $2 Million or 200% of Your Monthly Revenue
Most payroll financing companies cap loan amounts based on collateral, cash reserves, and credit scores, and as a result, rarely advance more than 50% of your monthly revenue. This can leave you short even after you’ve been approved, particularly for businesses with large payroll taxes and business expenses to cover.
At Redline Capital, we don’t limit your advance based on collateral or cash reserves. We qualify you solely on your monthly revenue and, as a result, can lend significantly more than most payroll financing companies.
We frequently advance businesses up to 200% of their monthly revenueas a lump sum, giving them enough to cover payroll without having to piece together funding from multiple sources.
Factor 4: We Help You Secure Lower Interest Rates
Redline Capital can help you secure the lowest interest rates you qualify for.
That’s because we’re a broker who has sent hundreds of millions of dollars in merchant cash advances and working capital loans to our lending partners, including Kapitus, OnDeck, and Credibly, growing their lending operations.
In exchange, they offer our applicants something they don’t extend to businesses applying on their own: discounted rates, preferred pricing, and exclusive terms.
So, when you apply through Redline Capital, you’re putting all of that deal flow to work for you, giving you access to interest rates that wouldn’t be available if you approached the same lenders directly.
We also verify this regularly. When a business owner comes to us with an offer they pulled directly from one of our lending partners, we show them the offer we secured from that same lender. Ours comes back with lower interest rates nearly every time.

2. BlueVine

BlueVine is a financial technology company that offers business lines of credit and term loans to small businesses across the U.S. They’re well regarded for their transparent pricing and clean application process, and businesses that qualify can get funded within 24 hours in most cases.
To qualify for a line of credit, BlueVine requires at least 12 months of time in business, $120,000 in annual revenue, and a FICO score of 625 or higher. Credit limits go up to $250,000, which covers a reasonable range of payroll and business expenses for small to mid-sized businesses.
One thing BlueVine does well is transparency. They publish their interest rates and terms upfront, so you’re not going in blind or waiting for a callback to find out what you’ll actually pay. That’s more than many alternative lenders can say.
The main limitation is that BlueVine is a direct lender, so you can’t tap into the volume relationships a broker brings to the table to secure lower interest rates than you’d find applying on your own.
3. OnDeck

OnDeck is one of the most established online business lenders in the U.S., with a long track record of serving small businesses that don’t meet the qualification standards of traditional banks.
They offer both short-term business loans and lines of credit, with same-day funding available for qualified applicants. This makes them a legitimate option for businesses that need to cover payroll urgently.
OnDeck has the following requirements: a minimum credit score of 625, at least one year in business, and $100,000 in annual revenue. Loan amounts go up to $250,000 for term loans, and lines of credit go up to $100,000.
OnDeck is also one of the more transparent lenders in the alternative lending space. They publish their interest rates publicly without requiring you to submit an application first, which makes it easier to do a genuine apples-to-apples comparison before committing to anything.
The tradeoff is that OnDeck requires both a business lien and a personal guarantee. This puts your personal assets on the line in a way that unsecured financing doesn’t.
It’s also worth noting that OnDeck is one of Redline Capital’s lending partners. Businesses that apply through Redline tap into the volume of deals we’ve sent them over the years, meaning pricing we return is consistently better than what OnDeck extends to direct applicants.
4. 1st Commercial Credit

1st Commercial Credit is a factoring company with dedicated payroll funding programs, particularly for staffing agencies and businesses that carry unpaid invoices from commercial clients. For businesses whose cash flow gap is directly tied to slow-paying clients operating on extended payment terms, their model can be a natural fit.
The limitation is that their payroll funding is built around invoice factoring and accounts receivable financing rather than revenue-based advances, which means approval depends on the quality and volume of your unpaid invoices rather than your overall monthly revenue.
The application requires an accounts receivable aging report, the invoices you want funded, and other supporting business information, which adds paperwork and time relative to lenders who work from bank statements alone.
Businesses outside the staffing or B2B services space, or those without a consistent flow of commercial invoices with extended payment terms, may find it harder to qualify or get the funding amounts they need.

5. Fora Financial

Fora Financial is a direct lender that has originated over $5 billion in small business funding since its founding, giving them considerable experience across a wide range of industries and business situations.
Their working capital loans and merchant cash advances go up to $1.5 million, with repayment terms of up to 18 months, which gives businesses access to larger amounts than many alternative lenders can offer to cover payroll taxes and other business expenses.
To qualify, businesses need a minimum credit score of 500, at least six months of time in business, and around $20,000 in monthly revenue. Approval can come within four hours of submitting an application, with funding typically arriving within 24 to 72 hours.
Fora Financial also offers an early repayment discount, which is worth noting given that many MCA lenders don’t offer any savings for paying ahead of schedule.
The main drawbacks are cost and fees. Factor rates range from 1.13 to 1.50, which can translate to effective APRs well above what traditional small business loan financing. Fora Financial also charges a mandatory origination fee of at least 3%, which is deducted from the advance before it reaches your account.
6. Credibly

Credibly is a direct lender that has built a strong reputation for fast, accessible small business financing, having deployed over $2 billion in funding to businesses across a wide range of industries.
Their working capital loans and merchant cash advances go up to $600,000 with factor rates starting at 1.15, and they can approve applications within four hours with funding available as quickly as the same day.
Businesses need a minimum credit score of 500, at least six months of time in business, and $15,000 in monthly revenue to qualify. Those are relatively accessible thresholds compared to many lenders on this list.
One thing worth highlighting is that Credibly evaluates each application across multiple product types simultaneously, including merchant cash advances, working capital loans, lines of credit, and SBA loans, and sends back offers for every product you qualify for. That gives businesses a real basis for comparison rather than locking them into a single product.
The limitation is that Credibly is a direct lender, so you only receive its financing offer. Brokers with strong lender relationships can often provide more competitive pricing by comparing offers from multiple lenders.
Credibly is one of Redline Capital’s lending partners. Businesses that apply through Redline receive Credibly’s offer alongside offers from other lenders, making it easier to compare rates and terms and choose the best option.
7. Greenbox Capital

Greenbox Capital is a Miami-based direct MCA lender with one of the more accessible entry points in the industry, making them worth considering for smaller businesses that don’t yet meet the revenue or credit thresholds of larger providers.
Loan amounts range from $3,000 to $500,000 with same-day approval decisions, and they work with businesses that have less-than-perfect credit. This broadens the pool of who can qualify for short-term business loans and merchant cash advances.
Reviews from small business owners are generally positive, with borrowers frequently citing the professionalism of their funding advisors and the speed of the process from application to funding.
The main limitation is transparency. Greenbox doesn’t publish factor rates or interest rate information before an application is submitted, which means businesses looking to compare the true cost of borrowing across multiple lenders have to go through the application process before getting a clear picture of what Greenbox will actually charge. That makes meaningful upfront comparison difficult.
In addition, as a direct lender, Greenbox can only offer their own rates with no external lending network generating preferred pricing on your behalf.
8. eCapital

eCapital is a Miami-based alternative lender that specializes in invoice factoring, accounts receivable financing, and asset based lending for small and mid-sized businesses.
Their payroll funding product is specifically designed for staffing agencies and businesses with consistent commercial invoices and extended payment terms from clients. You can convert unpaid invoices into immediate cash to cover payroll without waiting weeks for client payments.
Funds are typically available within 24 to 48 hours after approval, and their industry-specific expertise across transportation, staffing, healthcare, and manufacturing means their underwriting team understands the cash flow patterns of those industries rather than applying generic criteria.
Loan amounts run from $250,000 to $50 million, making eCapital better suited to larger businesses with significant payroll taxes and business expenses to cover and a consistent flow of commercial invoices to factor.
Because eCapital’s payroll funding is built around accounts receivable financing, approval depends on the quality and volume of your unpaid invoices rather than your overall monthly deposits. Businesses without a consistent flow of B2B invoices with extended payment terms, or those outside the staffing, transportation, or manufacturing sectors, may find it harder to qualify.
9. AltLine

AltLine is the invoice factoring division of The Southern Bank Company, a community bank founded in 1936 and headquartered in Alabama.
Unlike most factoring companies that operate as independent brokers, AltLine lends directly from its own balance sheet as an FDIC-insured institution, which gives them a lower cost of capital and more competitive advance rates.
Factoring amounts range from $30,000 to $5 million, with advance rates of 80% to 90% of the invoice face value and factor rates starting at 0.5% per 30 days. This makes them one of the most cost-effective accounts receivable financing options.
AltLine works for B2B businesses that generate at least $15,000 per month in invoices. Their underwriting focuses heavily on the creditworthiness of your clients rather than your own personal finances, which makes them accessible to startups and businesses with bad credit that might not qualify for short-term business loans elsewhere.
However, AltLine offers only recourse factoring, meaning if a client fails to pay an invoice, the repayment obligation falls back on your business.
Onboarding also takes around seven days, which means AltLine isn’t the right option if you need to cover payroll taxes or other business expenses within the next 24 to 48 hours.
10. Fundbox

Fundbox offers business lines of credit up to $150,000 for 12 to 24-week terms, with a starting interest rate of 4.66% on the 12-week product, one of the more competitive rates among alternative lenders.
Fundbox is known for its flexible eligibility requirements, offering funding to businesses with bad credit or just a few months of time in business, and same-day approval decisions are available for many applicants.
There are no application fees, origination fees, or prepayment penalties, which keeps the effective interest rates closer to the quoted figure than lenders who layer on additional charges. Fundbox also reports payment activity to business credit bureaus, giving businesses an opportunity to build their credit profile over time.
Businesses who earn $100,000 in annual revenue, have been open for three months or more, and have a credit score of at least 600 can qualify.
Fundbox offers only business lines of credit rather than lump sum merchant cash advances or invoice factoring. The maximum credit limit of $150,000 may fall short for businesses with larger payroll obligations or multiple payroll cycles to fund simultaneously.
